And They Claim They Can Reform Health Care Efficiently and Affordably!

"Letters were sent to 1,864 veterans about disability benefits for those with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, and a "small number" have contacted the VA indicating they received the letters in error, VA spokeswoman Katie Roberts said Monday night.

However, the National Gulf War Resource Center said Reid was among at least 1,200 veterans who received the letter, even though they hadn't been diagnosed with the illness. Veterans were initially suspicious, but still went through the pain not knowing whether they had the degenerative disease, which typically kills people within five years." [link]

Besides bloating itself on tax dollars of hard working people, and producing a red tape driven efficient at being inefficient bureaucracy, can anyone name anything that any government has been able to do cheaper and more efficiently than the private sector?

Debacles such as the one mentioned seem to pop up everyday with government run anything. Google medicare/medicaid problems, along with social security. And they now want us to trust them to "improve" health care and coverage. I for one don't buy it!

Really Want Government Controlled Health Care?

Let's just look at some facts, figures, and stats about cancer in regards to socialized medicine as opposed to what we have in the United States (for now anyway).

"Breast cancer kills 25 percent of its American victims. In Great Britain, the Vatican of single-payer medicine, breast cancer extinguishes 46 percent of its targets.

Prostate cancer is fatal to 19 percent of its American patients. The National Center for Policy Analysis reports that it kills 57 percent of Britons it strikes." [link]

You should read the rest of the article they also compare other health conditions as well. Now just today this comes out:

"Improvements in cancer screening and better treatments have resulted in steady declines in cancer death rates over the past three decades, U.S. researchers said on Thursday." [link]

Looks like an absolutely no-brainer to me, but then again we are dealing with congress aren't we?

Obama Demands the Masses Receive His Healthcare!

"...Obama vowed on Wednesday to get a reform bill through Congress this year even without Republicans on board."

"I promise you, we will pass reform by the end of this year because the American people need it," Obama said in Wakarusa, Indiana, where he traveled to tout his economic initiatives. "We're going to have to make it happen." [link]

That last statement scares the hell out of me. Sounds like he is willing to ramrod this down the peoples throats even though a growing number of democrat "citizens" are against this legislation. Isn't this the type of thinking that tyrants and dictators since time immemorial have had. "I will get it done, because I want it!"

I guess Pelosi decided she didn't really want her actual constituents opinions on nationalized medicine. It is also good to see she does not really understand what a right is either.

The government can't even get things straight on this, they keep changing the regulations on nearly a daily basis. Wasn't this supposed to be a very simple program with little red tape. Now imagine if you will on a grander scale every man, woman, and child, legally or illegally in the United States were to have government controlled health care...

Talk about a complete reversal in headlines and statements by the Obama administration. Funny that an administration that can't get its acts and lies together within a 24 hour time frame wants to take over health care for all.

Health Care Reform and Freedoms Lost

Pretty straight forward loss of personal choices and decisions. I will just mention the 5 you can go to the link to read more in detail.

2. Freedom to be rewarded for healthy living, or pay your real costs.
3. Freedom to choose high-deductible coverage.
4. Freedom to keep your existing plan.
5. Freedom to choose your doctors."

Now what you can do about it is put pressure on your congressman to not vote for this plan. Or any plan even remotely like it.

Thoughts on Health Care

Can we just WHOA UP! just a bit right here. $1 trillion dollars? And remember this is just an estimate. Just like Obama and teams estimate that the porkulus would keep unemployment at 8.5% or below. The government itself is broke, people are losing their jobs at an alarming rate, prices on goods are going up, where do they think they will get this money?

Oh right tax the rich. I will say I am far from rich, and I do not want to take from others. I opt out of insurance at my job because of the cost. However I am covered due to my wife's insurance plan, I wonder if I am one of the "estimated" 46 million Americans without health insurance?

If Obama and team can show me a health care package that reduces price, does not tax the people, does not diminish the care one can receive, and still allows for being able to see a doctor in a timely manner (unlike other nations with socialized medicine where you take a number and wait several months to see a doctor) then I might think differently about this sweeping overhaul. Until then I will not be for "socialized medicine."

Why Bother Anymore

Why bother even reporting stories like this anymore. It is already obvious that this man has no sense of honor and/or honesty and just said or did whatever it took to get elected. Also with the drooling media and a large portion of the citizenry either too stupid or too apathetic to do anything about the travesties going on is Washington D.C. it may just be best if everyone just took their choice of "opiate for the masses" and held their television remotes just a little bit tighter, cause they're going to be in for a long bumpy ride.

Putting the Cart Before the Horse

Cart: "...Obama will announce Wednesday morning that House Democrats have pledged to pass a health care reform bill by July 31 -- a vow the White House believes will advance its goal of seeing health care legislation signed into law by year's end."

Horse: "The announcement will not describe the contents of the health care bill -- leaving key questions about funding, coverage and access for another day." [link]

Usually when people set out to solve a problem they will start looking at options available rather than to say here is our end result we will get you the details of how we solved it as soon as we figure that out.

Before they attempt to hash out the details let's look at some things that might work. How about doctors competing for patients via pricing? How many of you with insurance go to see a doctor and leave the office without having a clue what your bill is or what you are billed for? Some billing specialist usually bills your insurance (and boy do they bill them), and it might be months before you get a finalized bill for the remainder yourself.

What we don't need to do is set back and let congress and the administration do as they please. As we can see that approach has worked so well for Medicare and Social Security. Do you want your health care handled by the same people that have made those two programs "shining examples" of government achievement?

Government Overseen Preventive Gunownership?

By now nearly everyone has heard of the plan to have all physicians, hospitals, clinics, etc... place all of their patients medical files into a central database so they can be "easily accessed by other providers". If we lived in a perfect world there would be no problem with this, it would allow quick access between doctors to a persons medical records, which could streamline a lot of processes. The main critics of this plan point out that the government itself would be the entity that would provide the "central hub" for all computerized medical records, thus allowing the government access to your own private medical records.

Now we have this coming up, "An influential government-appointed medical panel is urging doctors to routinely screen all American teens for depression -- a bold step that acknowledges that nearly 2 million teens are affected by this debilitating condition." [link]

What some of you may be aware of and some of you may not be aware of is the NICS Improvement Act of 2007 more commonly known as the Veterans Disarmament Act. What it does is allows for the barring of firearms ownership to anyone who is "adjudicated as a mental defective."... by a government psychologist or psychiatrist in the VA, Medicare, or the IDEA program. However, that would all change with the Veterans Disarmament Act, as it will CODIFY regulations that BATFE has issued." [link]

In other words the Law muddies the language quite a bit and leaves a lot to be interpreted. So it could be possible that all of these teenagers that may be screened for depression (a mental disorder), could later in life be barred from owning a firearm.

I know all of this is pure conjecture at this point, but would anything surprise you with the United States Government at this point. Look at all of the things that are going on and the liberties being taken from us now that our parents or grandparents would have laughed at 50 years ago. They would have said there is no way that will happen in America.

What "Healthcare Reform" Will Look Like

"The key pledge of Labour's NHS reform has been to reduce waiting lists and now the majority of patients are treated within the target of 18 weeks from seeing their GP...It means patients will have to wait months for routine operations as surgeons prioritize emergencies rather than scheduled cases." Yep you read that correct imagine waiting 18 weeks to get treated by a doctor. Also wonder what constitutes an "emergency"? We know how well the government machine reduces waste, spending, red tape, and streamlines the whole process don't we? So letting them take over healthcare is a wonderful idea right?

Don’t Be Fooled, Obama Plans to Raise Everyone’s Taxes

…is extremely committed to entitlement reform and is plotting politically feasible ways to reduce Social Security as well as health spending. The White House folks didn’t say this, but I got the impression they’d be willing to raise taxes on the bottom 95 percent of earners as part of an overall package.” [emphasis added]

There you have it: We already knew that Obama wants to raise taxes, substantially, on the top 5 percent of earners. And now we know that he and his people want to raise taxes on 100 percent of us." [link]

Obama: Crisis is Time of `Great Opportunity'

"On the last point, Obama has set a goal of signing a bill this year that would fix the U.S. health care system, which is the costliest in the world and leaves an estimated 48 million people uninsured, plus many others lacking adequate coverage...Our ideas and opinions about how to achieve this reform will vary, but our goal must be the same: quality, affordable health care for every American that no longer overwhelms the budgets of families, businesses and our government," Obama said." You know, it's funny, I didn't realize that the U.S. health care system was broken. Isn't that usually the only time you "fix" something. Of course it might not be the costliest in the world if not for government regulations, making physicians provide services whether someone can afford it or not, and the government regulations on insurance (both on physicians, and insurers).

Another reason our health care system might cost so much is physicians aren't allowed to participate in the free market. That is, they cannot advertise their prices and attempt to be competitive with others. Quite a few things that could be done to remedy this situation, but you can guarantee that the true remedy's for this problem won't be looked at, in fact you can about guarantee the opposite will be rammed down our throats.

Socialized Medicine on the Way

Here's the skinny on this next passage. This is an item that has been "slipped" into the stimulus package and would in effect nationalize medicine for every one in the United States. The page numbers contained refer to H.R. 1 EH, pdf version

"...the National Coordinator of Health Information Technology, will monitor treatments to make sure your doctor is doing what the federal government deems appropriate and cost effective. The goal is to reduce costs and “guide” your doctor’s decisions (442, 446). These provisions in the stimulus bill are virtually identical to what Daschle prescribed in his 2008 book, “Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis.” According to Daschle, doctors have to give up autonomy and “learn to operate less like solo practitioners.”[link]
