Here it is, if your a pro-rights type person you may want to make sure you're sitting before you read it.

Highway Robbery aka Taxes
"The Republican governor will delay $63 million worth of sales tax refunds for capital equipment purchases starting in January 2011. Businesses will wait an extra three months for their cash as part of Pawlenty's plan to balance the state budget using executive powers." [link]
The key phrase above is "for their cash" which rightfully denotes that the money belongs to them not to the government. Yet the government in this case is going to use private money to fix its problems. But in reality this is exactly what governments due on a consistent basis, they cause a problem then they use the taxpayer money to attempt to fix a problem that would not have existed in the first place had the government left things alone.

It's funny (not really) how both sides only use the rules and laws when it benefits them at that time. It also frustrates me that Congress "gave away" its Constitutional authority to coin the money, yet then has no form of oversight or monitoring in place, and for the most part does not seem to care.
Private banks must be audited per government regulations, but I keep forgetting the government bank does not have to follow the rules that everyone else does somehow they are "above the law".

They shouldn't be surprised Chavez said himself that Obama was more of a leftist than he was. The shame is there were millions of people that thought communism was dead when the Berlin Wall came tumbling down, and the old U.S.S.R. imploded on itself from its own weight. Guess we are in the next phase of the Marxist Experiment.

Why Not Celebrate?
I posted earlier today a full text of the Declaration of Independence, that for so many years our country celebrated, and the celebration was well deserved. In these days is there really that much reason for celebration? Granted, we are one of the freest nations on earth, but is that enough, and does it coincide with the founders ideas? I say no, it is not enough and it does not correlate with the founders ideas. Here are some direct quotes from the Declaration with comments on how they are now being violated today. Ask yourself if we really have come that far from the tyranny the colonies were under and if you should really be celebrating today?
"He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good." Has anyone see Obama's official birth certificate yet? Not his certificate of live birth that Hawaii handed out left and right to foreigners on a consistent basis.
"He has dissolved Representative Houses repeatedly, for opposing with manly firmness his invasions on the rights of the people." No dissolution as of yet, but how many "executive orders" circumvent the way something is supposed to become a law?
"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance." How many Czars do we have now?
"He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his Assent to their Acts of pretended Legislation:" How many people are protesting any new form of taxation, yet "Cap-and-Trade" and "Health Care Reform" are still in the works.
That should give you a brief idea that what the colonies saw as tyranny still exists. I wrote several months ago on this exact topic, but I used different parts of the Declaration of Independence at that time, if you want to see more you can read: "Has the Time Come?"

Amazing that 233 years have went by and this is now largely ignored. Here is the full text, and I believe it should be spread to as many people as possible. The reasons the colonies broke from Britain are happening again, read it carefully and watch what is going on around you and in your government. Now without further ado:
IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776
The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America
We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, — That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. He has refused to pass other Laws for the accommodation of large districts of people, unless those people would relinquish the right of Representation in the Legislature, a right inestimable to them and formidable to tyrants only.
He has called together legislative bodies at places unusual, uncomfortable, and distant from the depository of their Public Records, for the sole purpose of fatiguing them into compliance with his measures.

Range Time
Sorry for the lack of new and exciting posts today, but in a very rare instance of several family members being off (on the same day for once) a trip to the range was in order. Well not really a formal range, but we are lucky enough to own some property where a good bit of shooting can be done. And that will probably be how I spend the 4th as well.

What a Criminal Does When Confronted With Force

You see the vast majority of the time when confronted with force and other people (not just police) that are armed they will either give up peacefully or shoot themselves. This is especially true of mass shooters. Taking guns from the populace is not the answer.

"Liberalism" At It's Finest
"Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger said today that the state's deficit has grown by $2 billion - to $26.3 billion due to the Legislature's failure to pass a comprehensive solution to solve the state's shortfall." [link]
Did anyone really expect the supreme "Nanny" state of nanny states to fair any better? California is a good lesson of what "liberalism" has come to. I use the term "liberalism" in quotes because they are not really true liberals.
True liberals actually include Thomas Jefferson, Voltaire, Washington, et. al. Today's "liberals" are not what true liberalism or classical liberalism was about. Most of today's freedom lover several hundred years ago would actually be classified as liberals. Don't believe me do some research.

As many of you who read this blog know I have a favorite quote and it is by the late Colonel Jeff Cooper. I just ran across a story that shows an excellent example of the philosophy of this quote in action. I hope you all enjoy the stories and pictures as much as I did.

A knife-wielding burglar had a shock when he attacked a pensioner in his home - and discovered his victim was a retired boxer.

Electricity Is Good
We all have to agree that electricity is definitely a good thing, but how exactly do we get it? Well to break it down by the percentages we get electricity from:
48.9% -- Coal
20% -- Natural Gas
19.3% -- Nuclear
1.6% -- Petroleum
This comes out to just a little under 90%. The remaining 10% of energy usage comes from:
7.1% -- Hydroelectric
2.4% -- Other Renewables
0.7% -- Other [source]
Interestingly the Waxman-Markey (Cap-and-Trade) will tax coal, natural gas, and petroleum based electricity generating plants. Which theoretically works out to taxing roughly 70% percent of all Americans to help subsidize the 10% of "clean" renewable energy sources.
However the same people that howl for clean energy also howl in disgust when a dam is built because it damages wildlife and the ecology, furthermore there are probably very few remaining places in the United States where a new dam could be built that would provide a sustainable amount of electrical output. So what we really get is a tax that will subsidize 3.1% of energy production.
Now assuming a nice round number of 300 million Americans 3.1% of those would be 9,300,000. So in reality the remaining 290+ million will be taxed to make those 9.3 million sleep better at night. Doesn't that make you feel all warm and cozy deep down inside.
On a side note here in Kentucky small co-ops provide services for a large portion of the Commonwealths population. Most of these co-ops allow for each household to even sign up for "clean" energy only. Needless to say a line has yet to form.

The Honduran Supreme Court also supported the removal of Zelaya, saying that the military was acting in defense of democracy." [link]
And then the said Nations Congress and highest Courts uphold the decision because it was done in defense of democracy!
"Earlier, Obama said in a statement he was "deeply concerned" about the events, and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Zelaya's arrest should be condemned." [link]
And then two of Americas great Tyrants in training leap to the defense of a man who was in the midst of a sweeping power-grab. Wonder why they would back someone like this? Oh, could it be because they are like minded and after the same thing.
Dictator Chavez is up in arms about this, Obama as always is "deeply concerned", and Hillary is for condemnation of the action. Could it be that these pseudo-tyrants are starting to see what could possibly happen to them if they continue down the road of ignoring the voices of the people, of shoving aside the laws of the land that they live in for their own purposes?

Why bother even reporting stories like this anymore. It is already obvious that this man has no sense of honor and/or honesty and just said or did whatever it took to get elected. Also with the drooling media and a large portion of the citizenry either too stupid or too apathetic to do anything about the travesties going on is Washington D.C. it may just be best if everyone just took their choice of "opiate for the masses" and held their television remotes just a little bit tighter, cause they're going to be in for a long bumpy ride.

Things That Happen When Liberty is Not Present
An Iranian couple who lost their only son amid violent protests in Tehran say they were told they would have to pay $3,000 to recover his body -- a "bullet fee," they were told, to cover the cost of the bullet that killed him...[link] I think even the Pentagon gets better deals than this on its small arms ammunition.
Iran's violent crackdown against demonstrators in Tehran is only the latest exploit from the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps that has helped the country earn its U.S.-designated label as the world's leading state sponsor of terrorism. [link] I am about as certain as anyone that "voting" was handled in a fair manner. Don't you think so?

Now just stop to think a moment...Iran was never a "free" country. How much harder would some of these hardships be to a people that had at least had some freedom in their daily lives. Now is the time to start standing up for our own freedoms, demand enforcement and adherence to the Constitution, and to truly start holding our elected officials responsible.
