Not Only is He a Liar But Now Possibly a Criminal

"The White House strategy of turning supporters into snitches when they see "fishy" information about the health care debate may run afoul of the law, legal experts say." [link]

For goodness sakes. Say it ain't so. A Chicago politician doing something illegal because it would benefit his agenda. Must be made up by the "astroturf" conservative movement.

A Real Blood Boiler

"With budget deficits soaring and President Obama pushing a trillion-dollar-plus expansion of health coverage, some Washington policymakers are taking a fresh look at a money-making idea long considered politically taboo: a national sales tax...But advocates say few other options can generate the kind of money the nation will need to avert fiscal calamity." [link]

The more I read the angrier I got. How about these same advocates of robbing from everybody to give to who knows what bureaucratic entity start screaming to the government to "STOP SPENDING MONEY!" It really is not that hard to do. It may be uncomfortable at first, but it can be done, and millions upon millions of Americans are doing it on a daily basis.

I fear that if this is the "fix" that the government comes up with then the people will only be left with one box to stand on seeing that the soapbox, the ballot box, and the jury box have failed. That lone box will be the cartridge box and has been used to great effect for hundreds of years in getting the attention of tyrants and despots alike.

Paving the Road to Tyranny

"House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is working to buffer lawmakers from federal investigators...Democrats facing scrutiny include the chairman of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense, John P. Murtha of Pennsylvania, for his close ties to the defense lobby firm PMA Group, which is under federal investigation; House Ways and Means Chairman Charles B. Rangel of New York about a number of tax issues; Rep. Jesse L. Jackson Jr. of Illinois..." [link]

And the list goes on, and on, and on... However if Pelosi has her way it will be a good 'ol Leftist romp through taxpayer money, rights, ethics, whatever. All they have to do is block any investigations to themselves (well minus their enemies). See what David Codrea has to say about this here: The War on Guns: Pelosi Makes It Official: "We're Above the Law"

Another MIAC Style Report

"A new report produced by a branch of the Virginia State Police portrays the state's colleges and universities as potential breeding grounds for terrorism.
The 200-page report, intended for distribution to law enforcement, intelligence and military organizations, says "a wide variety of terror or extremist groups" have links to Hampton Roads and singles out the area's two historically black universities for special mention." [link]

Well so far these "fusion centers" have labeled whites, blacks, conservatives, veterans, educated, uneducated...ah hell, who haven't they labeled? Why doesn't the government just come out and say we're scared to death of just about everyone in America because we realize we have been doing them wrong for so long and are now afraid it is almost time to pay the piper.

MIAC, But at the Federal Level!

"A newly unclassified Department of Homeland Security report warns against the possibility of violence by unnamed "right-wing extremists" concerned about illegal immigration, increasing federal power, restrictions on firearms, abortion and the loss of U.S. sovereignty and singles out returning war veterans as particular threats." [link]

How can anyone trust a government that does not even trust its own citizens? These "reports" are getting ridiculous. Let's get out our history books and look up the Gestapo, the KGB, the Red Scare and Joseph McCarthy, etc... Remember those that forget our history are doomed to repeat it.

That's One Small Step for Obama, One Giant Leap for Socialism

TREASURY TO STRIP CERBERUS OF STAKE IN CHRYSLER

"Cerberus Capital Management is expected to be an early casualty of the Treasury's rescue of the hobbled automaker, as the buyout firm will lose its 80 percent equity stake in Chrysler, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.

According to the article, which cites an unnamed Obama administration official, Cerberus' equity stake in Chrysler is now worthless, effectively ending its ownership of the car company." [link]

Just as easy as that, the Obama administration takes away ownership of a private firm and is now the controlling interest of a private sector company. That is socialism folks, when the government runs everything. The means of production is centrally (governmental) controlled. What or who is next?

And Yet More From Hew Hampshire

"The New Hampshire state legislature took an unbelievably bold step Monday by introducing a resolution to declare certain actions by the federal government to completely totally void and warning that certain future acts will be viewed as a “breach of peace” with the states themselves that risks “nullifying the Constitution.”'
"This act by New Hampshire is a clear warning to the federal government that they could face being stripped of their power by the States (presumably through civil war)!"[link]

Getting better by the day isn't it. Here is some more info as well as here.

For those of you behind a little bit here was my 1st blog post about this and my 2nd blog post.

Inhofe Statement on Stimulus Compromise

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), issued the following statement tonight after the announcement of a compromise on the Senate
stimulus bill. "While I appreciate the efforts of my colleagues to
bring down the price tag of this bill, the fact is we still face a trillion
dollar spending bill. Making it worse, the bill is 93% spending and only 7% stimulation...'"
[link]

Well there you go. Pretty simple as self explanatory. We're gonna get screwed again.

Biden Urges Passage of Stimulus Despite Voter Backlash

"“If we do everything right, if we do it with absolute certainty, there’s still
a 30% chance we’re going to get it wrong,” was his message at the meeting.
"[link]

Well now isn't that nice. A 30% chance that that roughly $800 billion goes down the tubes and does absolutely nothing to help the economy. Don't you just love how they throw our money around that is forcefully taken from us.

I would advise stocking up sooner than later.

Thoughts and Things Learned During the Ice Storm

First off, it is nice to have the comforts of electric back. It is easy to take it for granted until it is gone. Notice I did not say needed.

Okay, here we go with some things learned during this little ordeal. Food, water, and heating that we had was sufficient to meet every one's needs, and more or less offer some means of comfort. Temperature was a bit cooler than what we were used to with electric (we used a gas insert) but that was remedied by layering indoors. I will add that in a worse case scenario it would be very wise to have more than one means of heat, i.e. backup generator(standby would be more advantageous than gas or LP powered, but more expensive), extra propane stored for gas stove, some dry wood stored(which we had) just in case...

Food met all nutrition needs and kept anyone from a rumbly tummy and/or intestinal distress. However after about day 3 we all decided that more variety was needed. This will be remedied in the following weeks. I will be looking for several varieties and brands of canned soup, vegetables, dried/preserved/canned meats, "energy bars", candy (for the sweet tooth), and powdered drink mixes.

Hygiene, no problem, we had running water, also had water stored in case water went out. Pretty sure we had enough water for all of us for a full week. I will however be investing in a packable filtration system. Any advice on this would be appreciated, I have looked in the past, but could just not decide. Oh yeah, have powdered soap and a wash board handy, we didn't need to use them, but we had both.

I am sure there is more, but these were the things that stuck with me.

Other things on hand that were not "needed" during this event were: several different modes of transportation (that is to say 4X4 vehicles, atv's and utv's), extra fuel for each, chainsaws, firearms and spare ammo, also a fully portable reloading setup.

Overall it seems that Kentuckians are a rather resilient bunch, as well as self sufficient (I will expound on this more in a later post). Unfortunately there were some deaths in the state associated with this storm, however when you consider that up to 700K were without power with sub-freezing temperatures and as of now only 9 deaths were hypothermia related out of 24 total (hope this number does not go up)[link] I would hazard a guess that we Kentuckians know how to take care of ourselves and each other.
