Analysis: Obama Recovery Plans Sowing Some Unease

"...some economists and lawmakers are beginning to question whether Obama's agenda of increased government activism is helping, or hurting, by sowing uncertainty among businesses, investors and consumers that could prolong the recession.

Although the administration likes to say it "inherited" the recession and trillion-dollar deficits, the economic wreckage has worsened on Obama's still-young watch.

Every day, the economy is becoming more and more an Obama economy."
[link]

Does anyone think it might be caused by the doom and gloom spread by Obama and his administration? By his proposed "fixes"? By the "fixes" he has already ramrodded through?

In my opinion this is a man that wanted the presidency, got there, and now has no clue as to how to truly fix anything, so what does he do? He pulls out the liberal playbook, which by those of you who don't really know was written by a man named Norman Thomas. Do some research on him and you will find out that he so scared the democratic party, that they adopted a majority of his proposed policies.

Obama: Crisis is Time of `Great Opportunity'

"On the last point, Obama has set a goal of signing a bill this year that would fix the U.S. health care system, which is the costliest in the world and leaves an estimated 48 million people uninsured, plus many others lacking adequate coverage...Our ideas and opinions about how to achieve this reform will vary, but our goal must be the same: quality, affordable health care for every American that no longer overwhelms the budgets of families, businesses and our government," Obama said." [link]

You know, it's funny, I didn't realize that the U.S. health care system was broken. Isn't that usually the only time you "fix" something. Of course it might not be the costliest in the world if not for government regulations, making physicians provide services whether someone can afford it or not, and the government regulations on insurance (both on physicians, and insurers).

Another reason our health care system might cost so much is physicians aren't allowed to participate in the free market. That is, they cannot advertise their prices and attempt to be competitive with others. Quite a few things that could be done to remedy this situation, but you can guarantee that the true remedy's for this problem won't be looked at, in fact you can about guarantee the opposite will be rammed down our throats.

Democrats Have Not Taken Gun Control Off the Table

"So, Associated Press writer Jim Abrams ("Democrats Show Little Appetite for Gun Gontrol [sic]," News Chief, March 4) thinks we have nothing to fear from Obama-Pelosi-Reid on the gun-control front? Is he that stupid, or does he think we're that stupid? A look at the White House's own Web site reveals this. http://www.whitehouse.gov/agenda/urbanpolicy/

"As media-proclaimed constitutional law professor (actually, just a lecturer) Obama should know that the Second Amendment isn't about hunting or target shooting. It's about balance of power. The operative word in "gun control" is "control." Shortly after the election, an Obama spokesperson made reference to "ruling," not "governing." It's difficult to rule when the people are armed. Ask Adolph Hitler or Joe Stalin." [link]

You just gotta love it when someone comes out and says it point blank. There are starting to become more and more that are saying this daily and not just on gun rights issues. Keep your eyes open for ever more encroaching restrictions in all areas. Won't it be fun when the government gets access to your medical records? Wonder how much Teddy "Pour me another one" Kennedy would enjoy things right now if we had nationalized health care? Oh, but I forget, he is one of the elite that the rules don't apply to.

Deception at Core of Obama Plans

"Forget the pork. Forget the waste. Forget the 8,570 earmarks in a bill supported by a president who poses as the scourge of earmarks. Forget the "$2 trillion dollars in savings" that "we have already identified," $1.6 trillion of which President Obama's budget director later admits is the "savings" of not continuing the surge in Iraq until 2019...Obama's radically transformative economic plan, a rhetorical sleight of hand so smoothly offered that few noticed... "it is only by understanding how we arrived at this moment that we'll be able to lift ourselves out of this predicament," Obama has come to redeem us with his far-seeing program of universal, heavily nationalized health care; a cap-and-trade tax on energy; and a major federalization of education...the list of causes of the collapse of the financial system does not include the absence of universal health care, let alone of computerized medical records. Nor the absence of an industry-killing cap-and-trade carbon levy. Nor the lack of college graduates." [link]

Read enough yet, starting to get the idea...that we are headed down a radical socialist agenda the likes of which it might nearly be impossible to pull out of without major consequences. And quite a few Americans are now starting to see this. For example upon taking office Mr. Obama had an approval rating of 80% give or take a few points. Let's look at some polls now:

President Obama Job Approval

NBC News/Wall St. Jrnl02/26 - 03/011007 A6026 +34

Hmmmm around a 20% drop in just six weeks...How about looking at the direction we are headed as a country:

Looks like a quite a few believe we are headed in the wrong direction as well. But do you think Mr. Obama will listen to the ones who are truly supposed to run the country, "WE THE PEOPLE"? Very doubtful. Instead you can almost guarantee he will continue to push his ultra-radical agenda to the detriment of the nation.

Never Waste a Good Crisis...

"Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told an audience on Friday "never waste a good crisis," as she highlighted the opportunity of rebuilding economies in a greener, less energy intensive model.

Highlighting Europe's unease the day after Russia warned that gas exports to the EU via Ukraine might be halted, she also condemned the use of energy as a political lever." [link]

Now let's stop and think about that bold part...is that enough time for it to sink in that this is exactly what Mr. Obama is doing. Trying to force expensive energy changes down our throats whether we want them or not and saying it is to help the economic crisis. Once again politicians using words and lies for political grandstanding. Throw 'em all out on their useless duffs I say.

Did He Just Lie Again?

"Although the new president complained about $7.7 billion in earmarks in the bill, he is expected to sign it into law." [link]

Remember the "This Bill Does Not Have a Single Earmark in It" post?

Or "How About We Call You On It, Mr Obama!"?

Anyone else getting as tired of this as I am?

A Sad Day in Hew Hampshire

"To be sure, these legislators will forever be tagged with the fact that they have essentially violated their oath of office, which they took, and which states they will uphold the NH Constitution...In the past, taxpayers in NH have been witness to statements such as this one from Rep. Sandra Keans formerly a Republican and now and Democrat, where she asserts that it ‘isn’t her job’ to uphold the Constitution." [link]

Yep, Sovereignty was voted down along party lines in NH. Although there was nothing in the bill whatsoever that went against anything either in the U.S. or the NH constitution. In other words, those that voted for this reaffirmed what was already in both the NH and U.S. constitutions and those that voted against it effectively voted against what was in the U.S. and NH constitutions. Let that sink in for a little bit, and it will let you know what we are up against as we attempt to regain our lost liberty's and freedom's.

Especially make sure you listen to the link for Rep. Sandra Keans.

Going on Here as Well.

"I warn you this revolution means business," (Hope/Change you can believe in?) said Chavez, whose government has struggled with lower oil income and minor food shortages this year. The anti-U.S. president, who has nationalized swaths of the economy, is popular among the poor for pressuring companies to produce cheap goods and for government programs that provide subsidized food in city slums (give them food, lower their bills, take over the banks, the car industry, give us what we can afford). [link]

If you took out the names and some of the other give-away-who-I-am-info? If anyone would be able to tell the difference between this idiot and Obama?

Tester, Baucus Tell AG to Back Off on Gun Control

"Montana Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester have a message for the Obama administration: they will oppose any gun restrictions the new administration may be considering. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, the two Democrats said the Justice Department should enforce existing laws rather than propose additional laws they said could infringe on Second Amendment rights." [link]

You just gotta love when this happens. Preemptive strike by Democrat.

Democrats Pull D.C. Voting Rights Act

"The patently unconstitutional bill to give the District of Columbia a voting representative in the House of Representatives was pulled off the House calendar because -- according to one House Republican leadership source -- they feared that the so-called Blue Dog Democrats would not support it. The bill was patently unconstitutional because under Article 1, Section 2, only states have representatives, and D.C. isn’t a state." [link]

I am finally glad to see someone pick this up and run with it. Even though the rest of the article digresses away from this key issue that Congress tried to do something UN constitutional. Who would have ever believed that out of congress. We really need to start sending a louder message to Washington. Evidently our bullhorns are not big enough, our shouts are not loud enough, our protests not large enough. I hazard to guess that we can't be heard above the din of corruption. Look up your representatives vote on this one and send them a letter with a copy of Constitution attached and the following highlighted:

The House of Representatives shall be composed of Members chosen every second Year by the People of the several States, and the Electors in each State shall have the Qualifications requisite for Electors of the most numerous Branch of the State Legislature.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the Age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

If you notice it specifically specifies that representatives must be inhabitants of the state for which they are chosen from DC=not a state. Ask your representative if they even bothered to read what they were voting on and/or the U.S. Constitution.

Well that's all I can take of this type of stuff today. I may try to keep this up for a little bit. A sense of humor is always a good thing to have.

Family Farms Are Losers In The Stimulus Pork Barrel

"...resident Obama's stimulus bill will be, on balance, a series of disincentives for family farms to run the risks of aggressive farming, because the stimulus bill unfavorably raises the risk / reward ratio...Moreover, farm families work long, hard hours all year long to build and to preserve their farms for future generations of their families. Reinstatement of punitive death taxes, as proposed in the President's budget, is a meaningful disincentive to all that hard work." [link]

Does it amaze you as much as it does me that the administration wants to hand certain people things (welfare type benefits) hand over fist, yet people that produce on their own, and for others keep getting penalized? What type of logic is this? If anyone can explain please do, I just cannot manage to get my head around this idea. I speak from experience on this as well. I grew up and still live in a small rural community and my family owned and ran a small farm. The government effectively punishes anyone who does this to try and make the least profit or supplement their income in any way by these means.

Handgun-control Measure Fails in N.J.

"The push to make New Jersey the fourth state with a one-handgun-per-month buying limit has stalled in the state Senate in the face of opposition from rural Democrats and a wall of Republicans...State Sens. Jennifer Beck (R., Monmouth) and Bill Baroni (R., Mercer), who supported the measure when it passed the Assembly in 2007, said they could not back the bill now because a June U.S. Supreme Court ruling reaffirming a constitutional right to own handguns might render the plan unenforceable." [link]

You know, I had to read that bit several times myself. On first reading I was thrilled that there were some people that stood up for 2nd amendment rights, but upon further reading that is not what we have at all. We have instead the usual political rangling. It would have been much better had it read '"and those that opposed the bill did so on Constitutional grounds based on the 2nd Amendment."

It Doesn't Always Have to be Big!

Sometimes lovers of freedom and liberty get caught up in our own ideas and forget the reason we love what we love. That being our own ability to think, say, do, act, etc... in any manner that we want to so long as we do not violate of infringe on the rights of others in our actions. A lot of times we look so much at the big picture we think we have to act in large world changing ways, when nothing could be further from the truth. Little bits here and there will eventually have the same (and almost always a more lasting) effect.

For example, the Commonwealth of Kentucky in its legislative brilliance has voted to raise alcohol and cigarette tax considerably. The legislature's and governor's reasoning "It will generate much needed revenue." When asked what is going to happen when, instead of generating revenue it causes people to cut back on, or give up smoking/drinking? Their answer, "It will allow us to stop spending so much on health care." However they neglect to point out that they way government does its bookkeeping these two things are not necessarily related to each other.

Okay, enough about some silly legislature, on to my point. I gave up smoking two years ago, so that was just that much more of my money the state is not going to get. My small protest now will be to learn the skill of home brewing. After I get my brewing kit set up and going, I will no longer be paying alcohol taxes, I will no longer purchase alcohol in the Commonwealth.

This may not make much of a difference with one person in the long run, but that is sort of the point of this post. Pass it along, think about ways you can "legally" subvert the system, start conversations with your friends about ways you can stop supplying government with your hard earned money, start taking responsibility for yourself and all of your actions.

Worse Than the REAL ID?

"Privacy advocates are issuing warnings about a new radio chip plan that ultimately could provide electronic identification for every adult in the U.S. and allow agents to compile attendance lists at anti-government rallies simply by walking through the assembly..."So if EDLs are the new direction for secure licenses in all states, it just reinforces what many have been telling me that DHS wants to expand this program and turn it into a wireless national ID with a different name," he said. "We'll wake up one day and without a vote in Congress DHS will just pass a rule and say something like 'starting next month you will need an EDL to fly on a plane, or to buy a gun, or whatever." [link]

I just love waking up everyday and hearing the new idea to start restricting my freedom's and liberty's. Don't you? This is a scary, scary idea. These types of "innocuous" ideas are more frightening than outright bans on freedoms. For one if you package something right you can get a lot of people to agree with you on whatever it is. Liberty and freedom are rarely lost in one fell swoop, but in small bits and pieces over time where only a few people notice.

More "Free" Government Money

"A revised bailout of American International Group may be just another "band-aid" solution, but more than five months after it was first rescued by the government the option of letting the insurer fail would still be considered too big a shock to already fragile global markets.
AIG's board on Sunday approved a broad revision of the U.S. government's $150 billion (105.6 billion pound) rescue. It was the third time the government has reached out to the struggling insurer and the latest rescue is expected to put greater funds at AIG's disposal to keep it afloat..."
[link]

What is actually being done and said in this "crisis" situation is equivalent to continue giving someone with a gambling addiction more money in hopes that they will eventually hit it big enough that their gambling problem vanishes. Sounds absolutely ludicrous doesn't it, but that is exactly what is being done.

I realize that there is a problem, but it is constantly being made worse by doom and gloom naysayers (Obama being at the top of this list). However if left to its own the market will stabilize. Their will be businesses that fail, but the business environment is like a forest, just because the ancient oak falls does not mean the rest of the forest is destroyed, but what will happen is the ancient oak will fertilize new trees and plants when it decomposes. In other words businesses that fail will open the door for new ones, that have better management strategies to step up.

Quote for the Day

"The right of self-defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever … the right of people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." -- George Tucker, American Revolutionary War veteran

More Good Thoughts on Freedom and Liberty

Kent's "Hooligan Libertarian" Blog

Just click on over there. This is a wonderful short post that breaths a bit of fresh air.

More Lies and Less Freedom

"Next, he made it clear that laying the groundwork for a strong economy down the road won't be free. Want to kick fossil fuels for a green future? How about reforming how we pay for health care, so we can get more for our dollars and reduce the ranks of the uninsured? Want to keep Medicare solvent? Get a bigger federal contribution for our schools? Repair and maintain roads, bridges, airports and mass transit? Build a modern energy grid?...And we can't just continue to borrow and spend and pass the bill to our kids...But by putting his ideas into budgetary black-and-white, Obama has challenged taxpayers to make realistic choices about what they want from government..." [link]

I would like to comment on a few things in this piece. First let's look at the first underlined part. He is correct there, what the Obama administration want's to do definitely won't be free. In fact it limits all kinds of freedom of choice. If I want to drive a vehicle that gets 2 MPG that is my business. Why the focus on mass transit? What the hell is it with mass transit and these people? There is not one single mass transit system in America that makes a profit, check for yourself.

I also particularly like the part about how we can't borrow and spend. What in the hell do you call the $787 billion dollar leviathan that was just signed into law?

Lastly, I will tell you exactly what I want from my government. To leave me the hell alone unless I infringe on the rights of others.
