Remember my little post about "Justice" Ginsburg wanting to look at the rulings of foreign judges in making U.S. Court decisions? Well I wonder if these are the types of judgments and actions that she is looking for? Let's start hanging people that committed crimes when they were juveniles what do you think?

They Continue Despite Being More Deadly Than Guns

I have tried to warn people before about the dangers that the health care profession poses to any and all people. Why are there still no cries from the left to outlaw them?

Good News, to an Extent

Well, things are moving in the right direction. But what people need to realize is that it would not matter if it were 3% for protecting gun rights (and we Threepers know who we are), we live in what is supposed to be a Constitutional Republic, not a democracy (despite what the media, the left, and public education "teaches"). Which means mob rule cannot take away the rights of others by force, legislation, fraud, etc... And this goes for all rights, all the time, regardless. I personally detest what some people say, write, promote, etc... but that is their right to do so, and if anyone tried to take that right from them I would stand up for it just as staunchly as I would for the 2nd Amendment.

I have posted before that Liberty is a bitter pill even for those of us that promote it to the utmost of our ability.

Already Looking for a Scapegoat?

I usually don't comment on the Quote of the Day, I usually like for it to stand for itself. However I felt I should interject on this one and say: Re-read this quote and remember that this quote is from an icon to the left. How soon they forget the ideals of their own.

Gun Control Loopholes: From the Left's Point of View

You're right on one point at least. The most effective executive powers do not derive from statutes at all, they derive from the people. Remember that pesky "We the People" part of the Constitution?

Really, where is your proof that gun manufacturers sell to criminals? Show me a bill of sale directly from a gun manufacturer to a known criminal. And I don't mean some private business owner that did not fill out or file a 4473 improperly, or one who was wrangled on a minor technicality by the BATFE.

Uh-Oh! You just let the cat out of the bag didn't you? Couldn't you have just said: If we can't get our way via legislation and with the consent of the people. We will just become tyrants and do as we please.

Now a few questions for you ex-Gov Spitzer and whoever you are Peter Pope. I guess that the soaring profits by both Smith & Wesson and Sturm, Ruger & Co. are not due to government buying up their supplies yet, is that correct? Hmmm, you mean private citizens are causing those increased profits? I am sure the government could waste more tax payer dollars to prove whatever it wants to prove though, right?

Also does this mean that the government shouldn't buy from itself? Here is a list of FBI agents who committed violent or criminal acts. So can the government still buy from these companies but not arm the FBI with those weapons?

Don't get me wrong I know that there is just a small percentage of law enforcement officers that are criminals. But just as that is the case the same is true of society in general. The vast majority of people are not criminals, it just takes a few bad apples to give them a bad name. So you are for punishing the many because of the actions of a few?

Some Thoughts on the 2nd Amendment

In studying the 2^nd Amendment and the history behind it, I as a pro-gun advocate have noticed several things, most of these have already been expounded upon in detail by other’s that support gun rights. I will merely mention them here as a background for this piece. The first one being that the people of the 2^nd Amendment are the same people as are referred to under the 1^st, 4^th, 5^th, 9^th, and 10^th Amendments. Each of these other amendments have been upheld by courts to apply to individual citizens. That means the 2^nd Amendment is not solely for the arming of an army and/or National Guard force(s).

Secondly the Constitution was written in plain English (for the day) and would have been meant to have been easily understood by the vast majority of colonists to whom it would have applied. In fact the Constitution was not only circulated to large cities, but also to smaller hamlets/towns/settlements so that the colonists could read (or have it read) and discuss whether to approve it or not. Let us also not forget that at this point and time a sizeable portion of the population had at least one firearm in their homes to supply food, and aid in the town/settlements defense (remember, Indian attacks were very common at this time). Hunting at this time was not a “sport”, but rather a way of survival for a large part of the population.

From here you should have gotten the general idea, but I have one other point that is very rarely mentioned, or even brought up. We have all heard by now about the militia of the day and how each and every able bodied man was expected to take parts in the routine drills/exercises enough to be familiar with how a group of men fought as a group (at least in the military philosophies of the day). Each man was expected to provide his own weapon, but if he could not then one would be supplied for him.

Here is where things start to get interesting. What type of weapon do you think those that could supply their own brought along, a smooth-bore musket or a rifle? The vast majority showed up to these exercises with rifles, because the smooth-bore musket was not practical for everyday colonial life. The smooth-bore was the choice of the military because with large amounts of troops it was easier to reload and fire volleys than was the rifle. However, it was severely inaccurate as compared to the rifle. Hence a case could be made that the rifle in a way was far superior to the smooth-bore that was in common military usage. Therefore the founders by their wording of the 2^nd Amendment intended for the people to be able to arm themselves with firearms superior to those of the modern military, at least as far as accuracy is concerned.

More Hoplophobia

Hoplophobia: A term coined by Jeff Cooper to describe someone who has an irrational fear of firearms.

Notice once again the gun-grabber use of the "Wild West" fallacy. It is interesting to note that several people were approached by the police in several different areas, and guess what? Not one of them was a criminal or doing anything against the law. Even more surprising was not one of these law abiding gun owners later that day turned criminal and hurt anyone with their firearm. A bit later in the article we get this wonderful bit of "wisdom":

"Stellingworth and Undersheriff Thomas Finco said that citizens who exercise the right to carry guns openly should realize it alarms the public and police."

You know what, it doesn't matter! It alarms gun owners when others try to infringe on our rights. It alarms Americans when we hear report after report of police officers acting like criminals (see all these reports by David Codrea). It alarms the public when we, as American citizens are labeled as potential terrorists (MIAC, DHS Report, Virginia Police Report).

Certain people need to understand those that support personal responsibility, the United States Constitution, freedom, and liberty, are rarely those that you need to be afraid of, or alarmed about. If you want to know who to be alarmed about try turning on the T.V. and see what Congress is up to, pick up a newspaper and see what your elected officials are doing. Leave those of us that mind our own business and live our lives as we see fit alone.

Innocent Life Saved With Firearm

"A 42-year-old Midlothian man was fatally shot in self-defense Friday night, Arlington police said.

Rodney Kennedy was in his ex-wife's home when he was shot by his former father-in-law, 67, police said. The shooting happened at 10 p.m. during an altercation, according to reports." [link]

Purely conjecture, but based on past instances of events like these the man probably had a restraining order against him, broke or attempted to break in, was confronted by ex father-in-law and was shot. This could very well have ended badly if the woman would have been home alone with no firearm for protection. Like I said purely conjecture, but you can look to the past to see how these usually turn out.

Forget That Pepper Spray, Pack the Pistol

Translation: Listen to what millions of law abiding gun owners have been saying for years. There is no substitute for a firearm. If you truly want to protect you and yours, you must be willing to learn, practice, and carry a firearm, there is not substitute. As Col. Jeff Cooper said: ""Fight back! Whenever you are offered violence, fight back! The aggressor does not fear the law, so he must be taught to fear you. Whatever the risk, and at whatever the cost, fight back!"

Guess They Missed This One, Or Where Was This Government Memo

"An end-of-year college block party spiraled out of control as police fired pellets and used pepper spray to break up hundreds of rioting students who sparked a string of street fires at Kent State University.

Video posted on the Internet shows students hurling furniture and street signs into the flames on Saturday night as a SWAT team in riot gear converged on the crowd. Kent police said the party grew violent after one reveler was arrested and students began pelting officers with bottles, bricks and rocks." [link]

In the age of the government memo's that is labeling everyone they can name as an extremist, where was the memo on this. This type of behavior is extremist and not just spur of the moment. Why didn't the government know about the extremism here.

Another MIAC Style Report

"A new report produced by a branch of the Virginia State Police portrays the state's colleges and universities as potential breeding grounds for terrorism.
The 200-page report, intended for distribution to law enforcement, intelligence and military organizations, says "a wide variety of terror or extremist groups" have links to Hampton Roads and singles out the area's two historically black universities for special mention." [link]

Well so far these "fusion centers" have labeled whites, blacks, conservatives, veterans, educated, uneducated...ah hell, who haven't they labeled? Why doesn't the government just come out and say we're scared to death of just about everyone in America because we realize we have been doing them wrong for so long and are now afraid it is almost time to pay the piper.

Another Campus Shooting

"A spokeswoman for Hampton University in Virginia says shots were fired in a dormitory and three people were taken to a hospital with injuries...The school remains on lockdown while police investigate." [link]

For the life of my I have never been able to understand the logic of lockdown's. If there is still a shooter in the vicinity the last place I would want to be would be in the same area.

Someone is Full of It!

I laughed until it hurt after reading this sentence, then I finished reading the sentence and it really hurt:

Keep in mind Obama "demanded" a $100 million cut by his cabinet. Don't worry with the fact that this amount was only roughly one-twentieth of 1 percent of March's federal deficit [source]

Happy Debt Day!

"The symbolic "holiday," which falls on Sunday, marks the point in the fiscal year when government spending exceeds revenue.

In other words, the government will stop making money and start borrowing on Sunday.

And it's coming earlier than ever, according to House Minority Leader John Boehner, who's pointing to Debt Day as yet another symptom of a government he says is spending too much, borrowing too much and taxing too much. Last year's Debt Day fell more than three months later, on Aug. 5.

"All the revenue for this fiscal year will be spent as of Sunday," Boehner, R-Ohio, said. With the fiscal year ending Sept. 30, he said, "everything that happens after Sunday through ... the balance of this fiscal year is going to have to be borrowed from our kids and grandkids." [link]

Isn't it nice to know that because of an out of control government every child that will born from this point forward will be "indebted" to the tune of between $30-$50K (dependent upon sources). Stop and think about that for just a moment. Each and every child born, in order to payoff government debt effectively is born owing the U.S. Government $30-$50K dollars. Good thing we live in the land of the free isn't it?
